Directions

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is one of the-most visited National Park Service sites in the nation's capital with approximately 4 million visitors annually. It is located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. between the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial, along Constitution Avenue between 21st and 23rd Streets.

Hours of Operation
The site is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. However, National Park Service Rangers and volunteers are stationed at the Memorial from 8 a.m. until 11:45 p.m. A ranger station is open during these hours to assist visitors in locating names on the Memorial.



By Car
Interstates 66 and 395 provide access to the Mall from the south. Interstate 495, New York Avenue, Rock Creek Parkway, George Washington Memorial Parkway and the Cabin John Parkway provide access from the north. Interstate 66, Routes 50 and 29 provide access from the west. Routes 50, 1 and 4 provide access from the east.

By Metro
There are several Metro train routes from the suburban areas surrounding the city. The Smithsonian Metro Station, which exits on the National Mall, is approximately a 15-minute walk to the Memorial. The Foggy Bottom/George Washington University Station is approximately a 10-minute walk. Both of these stops are on the Orange and Blue lines.

By Air
Three major airports link Washington, D.C. with the rest of the country and the world. Ronald Reagan National Airport, Dulles Airport and BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport all have limousine, cab or Metro services available that will connect with the National Mall.

Parking
Cars:
Parking is extremely scarce in Washington, D.C. Parking is available on city streets during non-rush hour times (9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. weekdays). There are parking lots at the Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial that provide two-hour parking. Parking is available for longer periods along Ohio Drive near the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials. 

Buses:
Bus parking is primarily available along Ohio Drive near the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials.

Special Events Parking
Each year, VVMF and other organizations hold special events at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. All of these events require special permits, issued by the National Park Service.
